MS Lofoten

Our first task was to explore the harbour to find out where the MS Midnatsol would be located and the latest time we could board by.

As it happens, another Hurtigruten ship, MS Lofoten, was currently docked there. This was Hurtigruten's second oldest ship and it certainly looked as if it was made in a different century
It turned out that prior to departure, the Hurtigruten ships were fairly relaxed and we were able to board it to have a look around. It was a very beautiful ship with an old fashioned wooden and brass interior (complete with a polar bear skin on the wall)

It was a very romantic and atmospheric ship. The ship we will be going on tomorrow, MS Midnattsol, will be very modern in comparison. But we will have a jaccuzzi, large bar and panoramic windows so it really is horses for courses.

Anne Helene and Berit bumped into the captain and had a very pleasent conversation with him.

We resolved to arrive at the harbour early tomorrow to enable Morten and Berit to board the Midnattsol, take a look around and maybe have a final coffee with us before departing.
