Having travelled 975kms in two days, it was relief to finally reach Mosjøen. Nestled at the foot of a mountain boasting several significant patches of snow, the first thing we noticed was that it was considerably cooler.
We stayed at the Fru Haugans hotel which turned out to be the oldest hotel in Northern Norway. We ate at the hotel restaurant where Andy had what look suspiciously like steak and chips. It certainly paled when compared to the red freshwater fish that AH, Morten and Berit had – we are uncertain of the English translation – but it was very tasty!
Anyway, by the time that we had finished eating, it was approaching 11pm and we noticed that it was still incredibly light outside. We strolled outside and down the main street. Unfortunately, the sun was behind some buildings but at 11.30pm it had not set and it was surprisingly light. Note the sun reflecting off the windows...
Our hunt for the midnight sun continues but we are getting closer.
And tomorrow we will be crossing the Arctic Circle!
