We made it to Roros! But not without incidence...further flooding closed off a large section of Highway 3 forcing us into a 60km detour along country roads; although probably adding time to the journey the scenary was absolutely stunning. There was ample evidence of flooding with rivers swelled and fields under way. We also drove through a thunder storm with lightning flashing and then thunder booming almost instantly...
it was quite a spectacle! We have yet to master taking photos from the car but here is an early effort:
Roros is a small picture perfect old iron mining town. We are staying at the Vertshuset Roros guesthouse and our room is here.
It turns out that there are only a handful of restaurants in Roros and they were all full. We were wandering around for about an hour until we found a table...We had Elk which, although overdone slightly, was a first for Andy and so well worth it. On our wonderings we walked past the hurch whihc dominates the town:
We are having breakfast tomorrow at 8.30. I am not too sure of the route we are going to take yet or indeed the town we are currently aiming to get to...I think that it might depend on the flooding.
Overall though, an excellent start to the trip.
This all sounds fantastic! Except from the weather, it's storming here too and me & Leo are not impressed.. have a great adventure this week! xxx
